Call for papers for our academic publication called “BASE design & innovation” under the framework of “DESIGN AND INNOVATION FOR 21ST CENTURY EDUCATION”

INSTRUCTIVE FOR PUBLICATION

May 2016

1. TYPE OF SUBMISSIONS

Each piece that will be published by Base Diseño e Innovación must:

1. The articles submitted must be original, unpublished and exclusive property of the author/authors.
2. It should include the academic affiliation of the author/authors, pointing the professional title, university or academic institute, graduate degree and any other relevant institutional a_liation.
3. It must stand by the rules of references specified by Revista Base Diseño e Innvación.
4. Include an abstract up to 200 words and 3 keywords.
5. The images and graphics are responsibility of the author and should count with the necessary authorizations for publication, including the name or source if its necessary. These images should be sent as separate files, with a resolution of 300 dpi in JPEG or TIFF and each of them also should include a brief explaining its content.
6. Each author should include a resume up to 250 words.
7. Every manuscript should be formatted in a Word document and be sent to the following mail: bbrancoli@udd.cl.

Call for Participants

We are looking for interested students and industry professionals to apply to participate in our interdisciplinary design event.

The Expo as Global Village: Future Ways of Living event will explore how new media technologies will impact our daily lives and how they will transform societal systems over the next 10 years. This will be done using the Milan Expo grounds as a case study for imagining how these transformations will manifest. This event will be organized by the Institute without Boundaries (IwB), a Toronto-based academic program, think tank, and studio that offers unique educational experiences and professional services.

The event is taking place in the last two weeks of June at the former Milan Expo site.

Call for Cases

Every autumn, the Tongji University College of Design and Innovation organises a small, highly interactive conference on design research and design education titled “Emerging Practices” (EPC). Since the first EPC in 2012, this has become an annual forum for debates on such themes as new practices, values, and approaches arising in design and design education; open design; influences on developing practices; DesignX; and design activism.

As a feature event in the framework of Shanghai Design Week, EPC2016 will be held this coming October, organized by the College of Design and Innovation at Tongji University in cooperation with several partner universities. This conference is an initiative endorsed by CUMULUS and DESIS.

Contemporary art at Aalto University is engaged in active dialogues within the broader field of visual culture and the unique multidisciplinary context and possibilities available through the university’s various academic disciplines. Art interacts with research, planning and public debate creating new forms of artistic production and new professional agencies. The Professor in Contemporary Art is expected to be an exceptional and active artist, eager to bring her/his particular expertise, experience and contribution to this vibrant and developing environment.

The position will be filled on the basis of artistic merits with the title of Professor of Practice. The appointment will be for a fixed 5-year term, beginning August 1^st 2017 or as agreed.

We are pleased to announce a permanent faculty position at the Department of Architecture, Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg, Sweden. The Department of Architecture at Chalmers University of Technology is strengthening the research in urban design and now recruits a professor or associate professor in Urban Design Theory, with a special orientation towards urban and regional levels.
