“A letto con il DESIGN – Design Hostel” (“Sleeping with DESIGN – Design Hostel”) is an original proposal in the panorama of events taking place in the city during the Milan Design Week 2017. The project seeks to approach design from “behind the scenes”, and literally enter into the life of the projects and the people thinking and making them.

The competition is open to full or part-time creative students or graduates (up to 24 months) that have enrolled on a recognised undergraduate, postgraduate or higher education course.

Experimental processing of materials from fashion history opens up new interpretations of daily life in bygone times.

Aalto University Professor Paula Hohti has been awarded a 2 million euro ERC Consolidator Grant by the European Research Council (ERC). The five-year project, entitled Re-fashioning the Renaissance: Popular Groups, Fashion and the Material and Cultural Significance of Clothing in Europe, 1550-1650, will investigate the meaning and spread of western fashion in 17th century Europe.

“Designer in Residence” is directed towards young designers in the areas of jewellery, fashion and product design.
For each area there will be a scholarship for a three-month working phase at the EMMA Creative Center in Pforzheim.
The EMMA is the central platform for creative people in Pforzheim.
The scholarship holders will have access to fully equipped workshop workplaces for jewellery, fashion and industrial
design in the Creative Center. The results of the scholarship will be presented in an exhibition at the EMMA and in co-operation with the Baden-Württemberg Design Center in Stuttgart.

Advancing from a culture following global trends, this new vital environment is now a leader providing the international design and art community with new impulses. Taipei is today a developer of exemplary models, generating new projects connecting design, craft, art and social issues.

Taipei – Basel will be presenting a wide range of both young and established communication designers, as well as academic positions.
