Cumulus is proud to present the authors of winner projects submitted for the Cumulus 20^th Anniversary Exhibition, which was held in Shanghai, China from September 8 -October 8, 2010. The award ceremony took place during the Cumulus conference ‘Young Creators for Better City, Better Life’ hosted by Tongji University.  

CUMULUS and DESIS aim to develop a synergy between organizations, to meet the new demands presented by the rapidly developing societies, companies, culture and the global economy, and to reinforce collaboration on education, research and finally innovation.

Christa Nolte and Yrjö Sotamaa were awarded on 8 September 2010 the Cumulus Life Achievement award in Cumulus 20-year anniversary conference in Shanghai China hosted by Tongji University at the same time of World Expo 2010.

In the memory of 5.12 Wenchuan Earthquake Disaster, Cumulus Association together with Tongji University and Knowledge and Innovation Community jointly organize “Design Inspiring Humanism – 2009 Cumulus International Design Competition for the Earthquake Disaster Relief”.

Students from Umea Institute of Design, Sweden, ENSCI, Les Ateliers, France and Hongik University, Korea are the first winners of Cumulus Green.

Mike White from RMIT, Australia wins with the Landscape Urbanism project.

With 62 interviews and portraits of international designers and professional analyses of the skills and profiles of designers trained in design schools within the Cumulus network, this book presents the opportunities open to designers.

The Kyoto Design Declaration was signed in Kyoto on the 28th of March 2008 by the Executive Board of Cumulus, President Christian Guellerin, Past President and Author of the Declaration Yrjö Sotamaa, Rector Kan Shimamoto, Kyoto Seika University, and Industrial Designer Takuo Hirano from Japan, representing the 124 global members of Cumulus. The Declaration received support ao. from ICSID, BEDA, AIGA and EIDD. By signing the Kyoto Design Declaration, the members of Cumulus committed to sharing global responsibility for building sustainable, human-centred and creative societies.
