The new international Master’s degree in service design, Service Design Strategies and Innovation (SDSI), envisages to kick off in the Fall 2021. The new programme focuses on interdisciplinary studies and cross-specialisation in design, business, technologies and social sciences. Graduates will be awarded with a Master’s double degree, one from the University of Lapland and one from the Art Academy of Latvia.

Kyoto Seika University hopes to hold another specialized 13-day intensive summer program of lectures and field trips in Kyoto from July 1 through July 13, 2021, for students/artists/designers interested in Japanese popular culture and its historical roots. In English; limited to 20 participants.

The No Waste Challenge presented by What Design Can Do and the IKEA Foundation is now open for submissions! This global design competition focuses on addressing the enormous impact of waste and consumerism on climate change. They are looking for radical new ideas and design-driven solutions to reduce waste and rethink our entire consumption and production cycle.

The Elisava Scholarships recognize, reward and disseminate the talent and excellence of our future Master’s students. This call for scholarships, awarded together with Gràffica, Neo2, Experimenta, Diariodesign and COM Elisava, takes place during the month of March of each year.

‘GENSAI’ refers to the mitigation of damage or casualties caused by disasters. This competition has been held annually since 2011, seeking ideas and designs to promote ‘GENSAI’, the disaster mitigation. For this 10th year, the theme is “Gensai design in the age of living with COVID-19”, given that our world is now facing this crisis from the viewpoint of disaster mitigation.
