Within Willem de Kooning Academy’s art education, one of the profiles is Commercial Practice, which is oriented towards our ‘new’ economy. Our world is changing rapidly fused by technological disruptive innovations. This changing world creates new opportunities and roles for prospective designers and artists. Creative input has never been as important within businesses as it is today. In order to develop new ways to create economic value, spot potentially untapped markets and come up with designs, products and services that are sustainable and make a difference, the designer/artist is increasingly becoming a key player in achieving these goals.
For the Commercial Practice, we are looking for a coordinator who oversees the practice and coordinates all organizational and educational aspects in relation to topics such as New Markets, Branding, Service Design and Data Design.
Profile
For this position we are looking for someone who has a master degree, has pedagogical qualifications, has affinity or experience with the commercial side of the creative industry, has a network and is fluent in the English language (spoken en written).
Responsibilities
- defining and positioning the practice within the academy and the work field;
- being responsible for the organizational and educational side of the areas New Frontiers (new markets), Branding, Data Design & Service Design;
- monitoring the choice of strategic project partners for the practice together with the manager external affairs (i.e. initiating contact and managing the relationship);
- managing the practice’s financial budget;
- being responsible for year end reviews with tutors;
- acting as assessor for student assessments;
- teaching in Commercial Practices;
- organizing the graduation process & graduation show for the practice together with other stakeholders within the academy.
Job offer
Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences (Hogeschool Rotterdam) offers you a temporary contract as a principal lecturer. The salary range is HBO-CAO grade 12 (€ 4,122.09 minimum and € 5,301.29 maximum per month) for fulltime employment, exclusive of 8% holiday pay and 8.3% end-of-year bonus.
