Cumulus can mobilize three candidates with the grant to participate in the next conference under the Cumulus umbrella in Nottingham-Trent UK in April 2016.

Cumulus is seeking for academics and staff working in colleges and universities in art, design and media in higher education from different parts of the world and countries less familiar to Cumulusians. The aim is to create the opportunity for friendship between people and generate partnership between the different institutions. We try to mobilize people where there is not enough individual and institutional linkages between them and Cumulus members. Cumulus can mobilize three candidates with the grant of max 1.500, – € to come over to Nottingham-Trent UK in the next conference under the Cumulus umbrella in April 2016.

The candidates sought after

1. work on permanent basis in an academic position or are staff members in colleges (educating minimum at the BA, bachelor level) or universities in different disciplines of art, design and media.

2. will join this conference from a country which does not have any university as a member in Cumulus, please see the website sites.aalto.fi/cumulus for further information.

3. come from a country where there is only small number of members in Cumulus or come from a new region of that country

4. should show a letter of the motivation stating the personal as well as any institutional commitment to the internationalization of higher education and research in art, design and media and capacity to establish an institutional bridge between Cumulus, the individual and the home institution of the applicant. We also welcome any other reasoning.

How to apply?

The application is to be done in English and sent by e-mail with the subject title “Cumulus PLUS+ application 2016”:

1. Contact information, status/position, address of the home institution, email, telephone/fax, skype-id, and website.
2. The applicant should give the right to Cumulus to publish the photo and information of the selected applicant in the media of Cumulus for networking purposes or equivalent.

5. Photo
6. Endorsement letter by the home institution why to give the grant to the applicant and at the same time showing the institutional guarantee for the rest of the funding for the travel is available by the home institution of the applicant. The head of the applicant must give the institutional endorsement. It can be enclosed within the material as a separate signed letter or by email from the institutional address of the applicant.
7. If there are any linkages with the existing members or partners of Cumulus, it is positive the applicant to organize a support letter (e-mail etc.) being included in the application material.

Grant recipients

The applicants and those receiving the grant are given the decision by Monday 14 March 2016 at the latest. The Cumulus Executive Board will decide. Each person must further to be in touch with the Cumulus NTU UK conference organizing team for the travel arrangements and the visa invitations, if needed.

The total of the grant is max. 1.500 € and it is to cover the conference registration fee and housing costs 27 April-1 May 2016. If any money of the grant is left, it will cover the rest of the travel costs (flights etc.) that will be paid to the account of the home institution of the applicant after the conference against an invoice and travel receipts proving the expenditure.

Cumulus is the only global association representing art, design and media education in the world. It was founded in 1990 and has today 2226 prominent members from 49 countries.
