We are looking for a professionally successful, internationally networked designer personality in the field of product design.

As of February 1, 2018, at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, the position of a
University Professor for the Subject of

INDUSTRIAL DESIGN

will be staffed, limited (fixed-term) for five years. A later contract extension is possible in case of mutual agreement. The Professorship will head and lead the Department “Industrial Design 1” at the Institute of Design at University of Applied Arts Vienna.

– Is actively aware of contemporary design culture,
– Sees design processes in their cultural, political, social, and economic interconnectedness,
– Communicates to students the value of a theoretical foundation and critical reflection in their doing and performance,
– Recognizes the examination and assessment of materials and the use of available workplaces at the University as important aspects of study,
– Owns didactic skills and enthusiasm in the work with students (in the form of regular, perhaps time-blocked teaching and correction units),
– Has team competences and the ability to lead the current staff and colleagues,
– Wants to make available international contacts in the field of design in the support of students and graduates for their development of national and international networks,
– Emphasizes external activities in Industrial Design (exhibitions, events, cooperation projects with non-university partners),
– Participates in university self-administration and in the performance of teaching and research evaluation.

According to the collective work agreement, the minimum salary (which is negotiable) amounts to Euro 4,891.10 gross per month, 14 x per year.

The University is interested to increase the proportion of women in senior positions and therefore explicitly requests qualified women to apply. Women are being preferred for (in case of) the same qualification.
