Professorship in Painting, Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle, Germany
Applications are invited as of now for the following position in the art faculty at the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle.
Professorship in Painting (pay grade W3).
The post is initially limited to five years. Exceptions to this will be considered via an appeals process.
We wish to appoint an artist of international standing with an artistic oeuvre that represents a relevant contribution to contemporary art. In addition to fulfilling the conditions of appointment in accordance with § 35 of the Higher Education Act of the State of Saxony-Anhalt, the post-holder will be expected to participate in the discourse on current questions of higher education teaching and artistic praxis as well as demonstrate an interest in questions of aesthetic theory.
The post-holder will be the head of the field of study of painting within the degree course Painting/Graphics, and will provide subject-specific teaching in the studio. This will be supported with courses on the principles of art theory and practice as well as supplementary courses offered by the art department.
The art department believes in providing intensive supervision to its students and therefore expects a high level of presence on campus. In addition, the post-holder will be required to participate actively in the university’s academic administration.
Teaching is delivered in German.
