We are looking for an artist or design personality with outstanding competence in design and theory in the area of three-dimensional design, coupled with teaching experience and didactic aptitude. The teaching goal is to impart the close interplay between material and form and to make this tangible as an essential impetus in the design process. Tenure is initially restricted to five years.
Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle counts as one of the most richly traditional art universities in Germany. A central, unique feature of the Design Faculty is the broad range of its formative-artistic foundation course (2D, 3D, process), which is interdisciplinary for all course programmes and provides a range of options throughout the students’ courses of studies.
At the earliest possible opportunity, we are looking to fill the following position in the Design Faculty in the area of 3D design for the foundation course in Art and Design Fundamentals:

The teaching goal is to impart the close interplay between material and form and to make this tangible as an essential impetus in the design process. Tenure is initially restricted to five years.
The following is expected from the successful applicant:
– Responsibility for the concept, content and human resources management in the area of three-dimensional design within the Design and Art Fundamentals course;
– A teaching concept for instruction in three-dimensional design (sculpture and experimental form) in coordination with the other areas of the foundation course teaching staff, as well as the fostering of extensive understanding and repertoire in materials;
– Sensitisation of students to the effects and aesthetics of material and the development of understanding for the principles of technology, construction and design.
Besides fulfilling the general requirements of the position in accordance with § 35 HSG LSA, it is desirable for the applicant to have direct access to themes specific to an art university setting as well as to make a committed contribution to academic self-governance. Remuneration will be made in accordance with the legal and budgetary requirements. Women are explicitly invited to apply.
