The Postgraduate Programme in Curating at Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) is a discursive platform focusing on key areas of contemporary exhibition-making. It has a strong practical orientation. Taught modules, group activities, seminars, excursions and lectures delivered by a team of acclaimed international guest lecturers serve to build essential knowledge and skills in the field of curating. Coursework also involves research and the development of individual and group projects from start to finish.

Both the prestigious Red Dot and iF rank Umeå Institute of Design (UID) at Umeå University as the best design school in Europe and the world. The school’s premises, in-house and external staff, and its focus on relevant collaborations with companies and the design profession are some of the factors that the school’s students believe are the underlying reasons for their school’s success.

“When you leave Umeå, you not only leave with a wide palette of skills, but also with a great network”, says Rebecca Daum, an Austrian student who is taking her second year of the Master’s programme in Advanced Product Design. “You will find UID alumni in all relevant design agencies and departments all over the world.”

The festival is taking place 14-18 September at the Westergasfabriek in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

NEU NOW is open to arts students in their final year of study and recent graduates (within one year of graduation) of Higher Arts Education Institutions across Europe and beyond, which are ELIA members, ELIA associate members or ELIA non-European members.

Kanika Kaul and Sitara Shah from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) attended as Cumulus Student Ambassadors the Cumulus conference “In this Place” April 27 – May 1, 2016. Cumulus members were active in New York in May: Aalto University, Art Center, Centro and Les Ateliers with two sister institutions.

A group of 26 students coming from six U.S. and International design universities participated in the 5th WantedDesign.

Design Schools Workshop, working together on ma t e r i a l e x p l o r a t i o n wi t h i n t h e theme “Playtime. ” The workshop, presented with media partner Core77, was conducted this year by Matt Sindall, designer and teacher at the French school ENSCI-Les Ateliers, in conjunction with Oui Design, an initiative from the Cultural Services of the French Embassy.

Participants were in six collaborative teams, which mix students from different schools and nationalities. A month prior to the workshop, students enter a preparation phase where they communicate via Skype and email to begin working on research and preliminary concepts.” The Workshop space was set up at WantedDesign Brooklyn, allowing the students to work in a creative environment and collaborate with various makers and studios based in Brooklyn, in particular those established at Industry City. The organizers were able to mobilize such mentors and partners,  so that the students and teachers were able to work with three different materials: wood, glass, and textile.
